VEILFALL
A downloadable game for Windows

For centuries, ships have fallen through the Veil and never left.
Their wreckage became settlements, industries, resources — and graves. Entire societies have risen from the remains of expeditions that arrived centuries apart, carrying technology, knowledge and materials from worlds that may no longer exist.
You are not building civilization from nothing. You are governing one assembled from everything the Shoal refused to let go.
Your state begins with provinces, populations, infrastructure and resources that already have histories of their own. Some regions are productive. Others are barely sustainable. Some contain valuable remnants of previous expeditions; others have been shaped by generations of isolation, conflict and exposure to the Veil.
Expansion gives you more land, but land alone does not make a stronger state.
Every new province brings resources to exploit, infrastructure to maintain, people to govern and another frontier that can collapse when conditions change.
The Shoal gives you opportunities. It also gives you more things to lose.

The Veil is not a border on the map.
It is an environmental force capable of transforming entire regions and changing the conditions under which your state operates. Provinces that were once secure can become difficult to supply, defend or even inhabit as conditions deteriorate.
You cannot prevent every Veilfall.
You can prepare for them.
Build reserves before shortages begin. Strengthen infrastructure before routes become unreliable. Position supplies where they will actually be needed. Decide which provinces are worth protecting — and which ones your state can afford to lose.
Warnings may give you time, but rarely enough to solve everything.
When a crisis arrives, the decisions you made months earlier matter more than the decisions you make while it is happening.
A state with food but no transport can still starve. A defended province without supply can still fall. A productive region pushed too hard can become another source of unrest.
Survival belongs to the states that prepare before the crisis arrives.

Beneath the Drift lie centuries of wreckage from expeditions that never escaped.
Ships. Machinery. Industrial equipment. Archives. Infrastructure. Entire buried sites left behind by civilizations that reached the Shoal before yours.
These ruins are not scenery.
They are resources.
Excavate buried sites and recover technology that can change what your state is capable of producing, constructing and surviving. Some discoveries may solve immediate shortages. Others can unlock possibilities your existing industry could never reproduce on its own.
But excavation demands resources, workers and time that could have been spent elsewhere.
Recovering something valuable means deciding what your state can neglect while you search for it.
And not everything beneath the Drift was abandoned because its owners were finished using it.
Your civilization survives partly because others failed before you.
Make their failure useful.

Survival is not enough.
Every functioning farm, defended province, repaired road and recovered machine ultimately serves a larger purpose:
THE ASCENT.
Escaping the Shoal requires far more than reaching a location on the map. Your state must accumulate the resources, industrial capacity and knowledge necessary to construct an Ascent vehicle — and then somehow deliver it to the only place capable of launching it.
That means stockpiling enormous reserves while your population still needs to eat.
Building specialized infrastructure while ordinary infrastructure deteriorates.
Protecting a project that may consume resources your state desperately needs elsewhere.
And when the vehicle is finally ready, the problem is still not solved.
It has to move.
Across provinces that may be unstable, undersupplied, contested or consumed by the Veil.
Every road you maintained, every reserve you protected and every territory you fought to hold can become part of that final journey.
Everything you build exists to make that journey possible.

You are not alone in the Shoal.
Other factions are trying to survive the same collapsing world, competing for the same territory, resources, discoveries and ultimately the same escape.
They are not obstacles waiting patiently for you to become powerful.
They have states of their own.
Their borders change. Their resources matter. Their ability to survive crises affects the balance of power around you. A weak neighbor may become an opportunity — or collapse into a problem you now have to contain.
War can secure resources and territory, but conquest creates obligations.
Captured provinces must be supplied. Populations must be controlled. Infrastructure must be repaired. Armies consume resources whether they are advancing or merely preventing someone else from advancing.
Sometimes destroying an enemy is less valuable than keeping them weak.
Sometimes cooperation buys you the time you need.
And eventually, cooperation stops being an option.
The Quiet will not last forever.
The first successful Ascent closes the window for everyone else.
When the endgame begins, every surviving faction knows exactly what is at stake.
Escape the Shoal —
or become another layer beneath the world that follows.

VEILFALL is currently in active development.
The systems described above are being built, expanded and balanced as development continues. Mechanics, content, interface design and individual features may change substantially before release.
Development is being approached as a playable system first: provinces should matter, resources should have consequences, crises should force decisions, and reaching the end should require more than simply becoming the largest color on the map.
Follow development to see new systems as they're implemented, read development logs, report bugs, share feedback and help shape what VEILFALL becomes.
Early players will be especially important as the game's economy, difficulty, faction behavior and long-term progression are tested.

Well I'll be, I had no Idea this existed, would it be possible to have an Android ver?
VEILFALL was originally planned as PC-only, so an Android version wasn’t really on the roadmap. But if you have Discord, feel free to hit me up there — I can look into putting together a quick Android build for you to test.
